Senado discute concessão da BR-364 em Rondônia nesta segunda (19) | ac24horas

The Senate’s Infrastructure Commission (CI) will hold two meetings in Rondônia on Monday (19th) to discuss the concession of BR-364, the state’s primary federal highway. The first meeting is scheduled for 9 AM in Ji-Paraná and the second at 3 PM in Vilhena, both at city council chambers.

Led by Senator Marcos Rogério (PL-RO), the committee will evaluate the contract negotiated with the 4UM/Opportunity consortium, the winning bidder from the DNIT auction held in March. The concession encompasses approximately 700 km of the highway between Porto Velho and Vilhena for the next 30 years, including plans for constructing 107 km of duplications, 190 km of additional lanes, and 17 km of access roads.

Referred to as the “Death Corridor,” BR-364 is notorious for its high accident rates and sees over 2,500 heavy vehicles daily during peak harvest periods. The potential establishment of seven toll plazas has raised concerns among political and business leaders, leading to calls for contract revisions.

Discussions will involve Senators Confúcio Moura (MDB) and Jaime Bagattoli (PL), in addition to local deputies, mayors, business owners, and representatives from the agricultural sector, all aiming to find solutions that meet the growing demand for infrastructure to support the region’s grain and meat exports.
