PORTO VELHO (RO) – In a preview of the interview set to air this Tuesday on Jornal Rondônia Dinâmica, Dr. Luiz Eduardo Maiorquim, president of the Médicos de Rondônia Union (SIMERO), discussed key aspects of the proposed restructuring of the state’s public health system, which may include shifting essential services to the private sector.

On Resenha Política, the Secretary of Health of Rondônia addresses chaos at João Paulo, outsourcing, and management hurdles within the SUS

During a conversation with journalist Robson Oliveira on the podcast Resenha Política, Maiorquim elaborated that the proposed model not only includes supportive services like cleaning and maintenance but also core health services such as medical care, nursing, physiotherapy, and nutrition.

“The proposal anticipates a company taking full responsibility for executing these activities, including frontline healthcare professionals,” he stated.

A key point highlighted by Maiorquim is the importance of engaging with professionals directly working in health units. He noted that representatives from labor unions and clinical directors were not officially consulted in the project’s initial development.

“It is crucial that decisions about structural changes in public health incorporate insights from those who experience hospital realities on a daily basis,” he emphasized.

According to the interview, the proposal under consideration anticipates an investment of over half a billion reais annually. The SIMERO president stressed that initiatives of this scale require transparent discussions, technical participation, and adequate time for evaluation.

“The discussion should involve all stakeholders and take into account the specific needs of each health unit to strengthen the public health system,” he concluded.

The full interview with Dr. Luiz Eduardo Maiorquim will be available this Tuesday (6) on Jornal Rondônia Dinâmica, as part of the Resenha Política podcast.
