FIERO fortalece parcerias e promove sustentabilidade em missão a Portugal | Tudo Rondônia

Marcelo Thomé, the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rondônia (FIERO), recently visited Portugal alongside union leaders from the federation to engage in a series of strategic visits aimed at fostering innovation, sustainability, and the international expansion of businesses from Rondônia. Notable locations included the ZWM – White Solder facility in Ferreira do Zêzere, the Engineering and Development Center (CEiiA) in Matosinhos, the North Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N), and the Municipal Chamber of Guimarães.

At ZWM – White Solder, a subsidiary of the Rondônia-based metallurgy company White Solder, the business leaders observed the expansion of the facility, which is investing 10 million euros to enhance its production capacity. The Portuguese plant serves as a significant European reference for the brand and is recognized for its excellence in solder alloy production and tin refining. Thomé congratulated White Solder’s CEO, Vagner Moraes Torrente, for his vision in promoting the company’s internationalization.

The mission also featured a visit to CEiiA, an internationally recognized innovation center where partnerships between Rondônia and Portugal for sustainable technological solutions were highlighted. CEiiA has a strong focus on sectors like mobility, aerospace, and space, contributing to the development of the KC390 aircraft. During the visit, Thomé emphasized the importance of collaborating with centers of excellence like CEiiA to foster sustainable industry growth in Rondônia.

Another significant moment of the trip was the meeting with CCDR-N president, Antônio Cunha, to discuss strengthening partnerships between the Amazon region and northern Portugal, concentrating on bioeconomy, forest restoration, and carbon sequestration. Thomé introduced the Amazônia+21 Institute, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainable businesses and attracting investment to the region, highlighting the Amazon’s role in developing a global carbon market.

The FIERO delegation’s agenda also included a meeting with Vice President and Councilwoman Adelina Paula Pinto at the Municipal Chamber of Guimarães. During this meeting, the partnership between Guimarães and Chapada dos Guimarães (MT) was emphasized, particularly in environmental and sustainable development areas. According to Adelina, Guimarães will be the green capital of Europe in 2026, and she shared the city’s commitment to ecological practices, aligning with the vision of a greener and more sustainable future for both regions involved.

Through these engagements, the business mission strengthened international ties, opened avenues for new partnerships, and fostered collaboration on sustainable projects, positioning Rondônia as a center for innovation and sustainable development on the global stage.
