Em recomendação, MPRO requer melhorias sanitárias em escolas indígenas | Tudo Rondônia

Recently, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rondônia (MPRO), represented by Justice Promoter Conceição Forte Baena, issued a recommendation to the Regional Education Superintendence. This initiative aims to enhance sanitary conditions in five indigenous schools located in the rural area of Ji-Paraná. The recommendation, made on Thursday (July 10), continues the efforts of the “Sede de Aprender” project, with the goal of ensuring the right to health, education, and basic sanitation for indigenous children and adolescents.

Technical assessments have identified significant sanitary deficiencies within the indigenous schools. Inadequate infrastructure undermines the dignity, safety, and educational development of the children. Notable issues include a lack of proper control over chlorine levels in drinking water, unhygienic bathrooms, and insufficient waste disposal options in common areas.

Recommendations

Among the measures recommended by the MPRO are the establishment of chlorine dosage controls, standardized cleaning protocols for bathrooms, installation of external trash bins, and the display of cleanliness certificates. The recommendation also stresses the need for a continuous supply of fuel for water pumps, as well as regular maintenance for drinking fountains and water reservoirs. Furthermore, it encourages the renovation of community bathrooms and the construction of new septic tanks, along with improved organization of cleaning product storage.

Implementation of Measures

The Regional Education Superintendence has 30 days to report on actions taken or planned for each inspected school. Should the recommendations go unaddressed, the MPRO may resort to legal actions, including filing a Public Civil Action. These steps aim to guarantee that indigenous schools provide a safe and healthy environment for the growth and development of children and adolescents.
