Recent research by the Instituto Brasil Dados, reported by journalist Sérgio Pires in the online publication Tudo Rondônia, identifies Senator Marcos Rogério as the frontrunner for the governorship of Rondônia, securing 22% support. He is followed by Adalton Fúria at 15% and Hildon Chaves with 9%.

Marcos Rogério clearly emerges as a prominent contender for the state’s governorship. His standing could strengthen if he receives backing from former President Jair Bolsonaro, one of the few politicians capable of drawing large crowds without holding a current office. This contrasts sharply with some “representatives of the people” who face public backlash in their own surroundings.

The senator was a devoted supporter of Jair Bolsonaro’s administration and gained significant visibility during the Covid-19 CPI. His steadfast defense of the government earned him both the respect of Bolsonaro and his family. Thus, it would be natural for the former president to reciprocate by endorsing him in a potential gubernatorial run in Rondônia, although the political race is still in its early stages.

Elections can swing dramatically in a single day. A compromised photo with a controversial individual or a misinterpreted quote can significantly damage a candidate’s prospects, especially when spread across social media platforms. History shows that numerous candidates have gone to bed believing they were victorious, only to awaken to defeat. Therefore, it is wise to refrain from premature celebration.
