Representatives from the Regional Medical Council of the State of Rondônia (Cremero) and the board members of the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) held a series of productive meetings this week in Rondônia aimed at promoting quality and ethics in medical practice in the state.

Led by Presidents Dr. Lucas Levi G. Sobral (Cremero) and Dr. José Hiran Gallo (CFM), the meetings included representatives from the Public Ministry of Rondônia (MPRO), the State Legislative Assembly (Alero), the City Hall of Porto Velho, and the Governor’s Palace.

The Cremero president emphasized the significance of the CFM board’s visit, noting that the presence of the CFM president, who hails from the state, illustrates a deeper recognition of the challenges faced by the local medical community. “We are grateful for everyone’s presence, and we believe that the mobilization around each meeting’s topics will be critical in enhancing the quality of medical services provided to the population,” he stated.

The delegation also included Cremero’s Inspector Dr. Ellen Santiago, along with federal councilors Dr. Rosylane Nascimento das Mercês Rocha (DF), Dr. Carlos Magno Pretti Dalapicola (ES), Dr. Dilza Teresinha Ambrós Ribeiro (AC), Dr. José Albertino Souza (CE), Dr. Emmanuel Fortes Silveira Cavalcanti (AL), Dr. Estevam Rivello Alves (TO), and Dr. Jeancarlo Fernandes Cavalcante (RN).

MPRO

On Tuesday (29), the CFM president presented a request to the Attorney General Alexandre Jésus de Queiroz Santiago for integration into the “Pact for Health and Patient Safety.” This initiative aims for collaborative efforts to raise awareness about irregularities, guide on reporting and protection of rights, and enhance oversight and accountability for damages. The Attorney General confirmed MPRO’s adherence to the pact, establishing a technical cooperation to prevent and combat practices that jeopardize patient safety due to unlawful medical practices.

Alero

On the same morning, the delegation met with State Deputy Dr. Luís do Hospital, president of the Health, Welfare, and Social Assistance Commission at Alero. The visit centered on discussing priorities to strengthen public health in the state. The deputy highlighted the essential role of collaboration between public authorities and medical entities to address healthcare with seriousness and planning. The meeting also reinforced institutional dialogue with the Medical Councils and opened avenues to discuss challenges in the public network, hospital infrastructure, and the valorization of professionals.

City Hall of Porto Velho

The CFM and Cremero delegation also met on Tuesday with Mayor Léo Moraes, Vice Mayor Magna dos Anjos, City Council President Breno Mendes, Municipal Health Secretary Jaime Gazola, and Deputy Secretary and Cremero councilor Dr. Fabio Storer.

State Government

The agenda continued until Wednesday (30) with a meeting at the Governor’s Palace with State Health Secretary Cel. Jefferson Rocha and Vice Governor Sérgio Gonçalves. Topics discussed included healthcare outsourcing and the appreciation of the medical profession.
