The young man, Withor Vieira Majeski, met a violent end while riding his motorcycle on the RO-470 highway in Rondônia. He had just left the SM Fit gym and was heading home to Vale do Paraíso.
According to police reports, two men on a motorcycle began following Withor around 8:40 PM. As he slowed down to navigate a speed bump, the passenger brandished a weapon and fired two shots into his back. Withor fell and died at the scene.
The swift response from law enforcement was notable. Within hours, the Civil and Military Police identified and apprehended the perpetrator behind the crime: Anedinos Cordeiro, 45, a former municipal council candidate for the MDB in 2024, who received only 23 votes.
Investigating officer Niki Locateli reported that Anedinos confessed to orchestrating the murder, disclosing that he paid R$ 7,000 to two individuals to carry out the act. The motive appears to involve a land dispute in the area.
However, sources indicate that Withor was not directly involved in this conflict, deepening the public outcry around the situation.
In addition to Anedinos, law enforcement has arrested William, identified as the driver of the motorcycle involved in the incident. The shooter remains at large, and searches are ongoing. The motorcycle used in the crime has been seized.
This homicide has sparked significant outrage in Vale do Paraíso. Friends, residents, and family members have expressed their shock at the loss of a young man known for his calm demeanor and dedication to work and education.
Withor held a degree in Agronomy, having completed a six-year program with support from his father, and was working as a consultant at a local company. His father, known as Cowboy de Rondônia, is well-regarded among the Brazilian community in Massachusetts.
Visibly devastated, Cowboy mourned the death of his only biological son, stating, “I’m shattered; it’s incredibly hard. I haven’t slept since I received the news at 9 PM last night.” He went on to share his efforts to bring Withor and his mother to the United States, which were thwarted by multiple visa rejections. “I thought it best for him to continue his life in Brazil. I did everything I could from here. He aspired to study Veterinary Medicine but chose Agronomy instead. He was my only biological son. In Boston, I have two children I raised from a previous marriage.”
The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to locate the second perpetrator while the community and family seek justice.
