The Public Ministry of the State of Rondônia, through the 1st Public Prosecutor’s Office of Colorado do Oeste, has secured an urgent precautionary measure from the court after discovering signs of irregularities concerning the allocation and usage of public funds for an entity based in Colorado do Oeste.
According to the Public Ministry, the entity received R$ 154,056.57 from the Government of Rondônia to construct bathrooms for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and a kitchen. However, as noted in the precautionary measure, there is no evidence that the organization conducts activities that serve a social purpose justifying the receipt of public funds.
The prosecutor’s office also pointed out that the sign installed at the construction site lacks the basic information required by law for transparency and oversight, such as the source of funds, contract number, and associated secretariat, violating the publicity principle outlined in Article 37 of the Federal Constitution.
Investigations on government portals yielded no concrete or specific data on any potential partnerships between the state and the entity.
The court ruling mandated an immediate halt to the disbursement of public funds related to the funding agreement, the suspension of the construction project, and the submission of necessary information for oversight purposes.
The Public Ministry’s actions aim to ensure the proper use of public resources, enhance transparency, monitor third-sector entities, and safeguard collective interests.
