Porto Velho/RO. On April 10th, the Federal Police, in collaboration with GEFRON/MT, seized an aircraft carrying approximately half a ton of cocaine hydrochloride.
The operation took place in a rural area near the border between the states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso.
Utilizing intelligence information that enabled the tracking of a suspicious aircraft, investigations confirmed the involvement of a criminal group that was using the plane for drug trafficking.
Federal police officers in transit spotted and approached the aircraft, where they found 12 bales of cocaine and one firearm. Upon noticing the approaching vehicle, the pilot fled into the woods.
The seized illegal cargo was sent to the Federal Police Superintendency in Porto Velho/RO for the necessary legal procedures, including weighing, forensic analysis, and the initiation of a police investigation.
This operation marks a significant step in the fight against international drug trafficking by disrupting the aerial logistics of criminal organizations in the border area. It is part of a coordinated effort to combat illegal flights of small aircraft used for transporting large quantities of narcotics.
